Welcome to Hawk Oak Studios
This website displays the paintings of Geoffrey Meredith. Many are landscapes, or cityscapes, done in a style sometimes called "Mid-Century Modern," or "Post-War Contemporary." They are a 21st-Century reinterpretation of the 'Bay Area Figurative Movement' of the 1950's and '60's. Others are large, gestural non-objective works of the abstract expressioist genre that first appeared in the 50's and 60's in New York. Portraits and limited figure studies are in additional galleries.
Geoff had a two major solo exhibitions in 2018, one at the Piedmont Center for the Arts and the other at the University Club of San Francisco. He was featured at the 2016 Pasadena Showcase House for Design, which has for 52 years benefitted the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He is currently represented at four Northern California galleries: The Christopher Hill Galleries in St. Helena and in Healdsburg; the Slate Contemporary Gallery in Oakland; and the Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek. Geoff served for five years as a Commissioner of the Contra Costa County Arts and Culture Commission, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Vallery Art Gallery.
